WILSON, N.C. – The Barton softball team (9-1) rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Catawba (4-8), 13-0 and 7-0, Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Field.
Game One – Barton 13, Catawba 0 (five innings)

Sloane Correa (Greenville, N.C.) hit a bases-clearing single in the third inning and finished with four runs batted in while sophomore outfielder
Savannah Branch (Shallotte, N.C.) and junior third baseman
Lindsey Massengill (Pine Level, N.C.) both drove in three runs each in the win.
An eight-run fourth frame for the Bulldogs capped off by a two-run single from Massengill finished off the Indians, who were run-ruled. Barton sophomore
Rilee Jones (Virginia Beach, Va.) improved to 3-1 on the year after striking out seven batters in four scoreless innings of work. Catawba's Salem Finney (Boonville, N.C.) (2-4) took the setback.
Game Two – Barton 7, Catawba 0
Barton junior third baseman
AnnaKate Gilchrist (Clayton, N.C.) hit a three-run home run in the third inning while Correa drove in two more runs as the Bulldogs swept the doubleheader from the Indians.
Gilchrist also pitched three scoreless innings for her second save of the year while freshman
Miranda Holmes (Godwin, N.C.) improved to 4-0 after earning the win. Holmes struck out four batters. Catawba's Lauren Brickey (Elizabethtown, Tenn.) (1-4) suffered the loss.
Barton remains at home to take on St. Andrews on Sunday beginning at Noon in a doubleheader while Catawba hosts Queens in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m.
