FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (2-2) defeated Methodist (0-1) by a 6-1 score on Wednesday afternoon at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs were led by a quartet of freshmen:
Maren Kronsbein (Ellarau, GERMANY),
Tilde Howeler (Stockholm, SWEDEN),
Silvia Fernandez-Trabedelo (Barcelona, SPAIN) and
Isabella Pita (Guyaquil, ECUADOR).
All four players registered wins in singles and doubles action. Howeler and Fernandez-Trabedelo prevailed at second doubles over Methodist's Toni Laney (Catawba, N.C.) and Jill Lawrence (Queens, N.Y.) by a score of 6-2.
Barton returns to the court on Saturday, February 26, to take on Augusta at Noon in Sumter, S.C., at the Palmetto Tennis Center while Methodist travels to Demorest, Ga., to face Piedmont Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
