WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (22-1, 18-1), ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II, rolled in the second half on its way to a 91-65 victory over Chowan (14-8, 14-6) Tuesday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at Wilson Gymnasium.
Barton was led by senior forward
Jami Tham (Arlington, Va.) with 27 points and 13 rebounds while senior center
Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 21 points as the Bulldogs won their 16th straight contest and remained in sole possession of first place in the league standings.
The Bulldogs turned on the offense in the second half, rolling up 57 points and using a 20-4 run between both the third and fourth periods to take control. Barton shot 71 percent (22-of-31) after intermission and forced Chowan into 21 turnovers in completing the season sweep of the Hawks.
Chowan was led by Aniah Patterson (Dover, Del.) with 18 points and Monique Jones (Chester, Va.) with 15 points in the losing effort. The Hawks, who entered the day in third place in the league standings, missed all six three-point attempts on the evening.

Michelle Gainey (Rocky Mount, N.C.) came up big again with 17 points including five three-pointers in the triumph.
Barton turns right back around and travels to Florence, S.C., to take on Francis Marion Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m., while Chowan travels to Belmont, N.C., to face Belmont Abbey Friday at 5:00 p.m.
