PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's swimming wrapped up competition Saturday evening at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke's meet which took place at the Braves Aquatic Center.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs fell to Emory by a 134-84 score while the women's squad fell to both UNC Pembroke (191-61) and Emory (188-62).
Barton's evening was highlighted by a victory in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay. The quartet – featuring sophomores
Owen Rasinske (Hillsborough, N.C.) and
David Szlobodnyik (Dunaujvaros, HUNGARY), freshman
Ethan Robinson (Dacula, Ga.) and junior
Ethan Maddrey (Sims, N.C.) – finished first overall with a time of 3:15.63.
Szlobodnyik also won the men's 100-yard butterfly (59.32) while the Bulldogs picked up three more victories in men's competition: freshman
Benjamin Hodge (Tallahassee, Fla.) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:17.56), freshman
Natan Alexandre (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.83) and freshman
Dominic Edl (Bluffton, S.C.) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.98).
Barton junior
Megan Schueller (La Plate, Md.) was the Bulldogs' top result on the women's side with her second-place finish in the women's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.27.
The Barton swimming teams next compete on Saturday, November 12, against St. Andrews in Laurinburg, N.C.
