MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Barton men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed this past weekend at the Trojan Relays at the Ray McDonald, Sr., Sports Complex.
Barton freshman
Quante Downey (Nashville, N.C.) won the men's pole vault (13'5") to lead the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs also had the third-place finish in the event as well: freshman
Jacob Boucher (Swansboro, N.C.) with a 12'0".
Junior
Deshawn Owens (Pikeville, N.C.) took fourth place overall in both the men's 1,500-meter run (4:11.66) and men's 800-meter run (2:01.04) while senior
Chianti Ghee (Fayetteville, N.C.) was runner-up in the men's hammer throw (162'7") for the Bulldogs as well.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs were led by junior
Takeitha Glaspie (Goldsboro, N.C.), who finished fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.37) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (24.98). In addition, Barton junior
Telina Bunch (Hampton, Va.) was sixth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.19.
Barton will next compete in the 2021 Conference Carolinas Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, April 23, in Mount Olive, N.C., at the same facility.
