LAURINBURG, N.C. - The Barton College softball team (5-7) rebounded from a disappointing performance a day earlier to easily sweep St. Andrews (2-8), 12-4 and 13-0, Sunday afternoon at Knights Field. Both games were run-ruled and lasted five innings.
Game One – Barton 12, St. Andrews 4 (five innings)
With the scored tied at four after two innings of play, Barton turned the contest into a rout highlighted by a seven-run fifth inning.

Morgan Shirley (Greenville, N.C.) and junior outfielder
Sidney Gronowski (Fayetteville, N.C.) both drove in two runs while freshman
Rilee Jones (Virginia Beach, Va.) improved to 4-2 on the season after allowing just one earned run and striking out four batters.
For St. Andrews, Brooke Vance (Rutherfordton, N.C.) drove in three runs but Charlee Mullins (Camden, S.C.) suffered the loss. A total of 10 errors by the Knights led to nine unearned runs.
Game Two – Barton 13, St. Andrews 0 (five innings)
Barton sophomore second baseman
Emily Bell (Bunn, N.C.) finished with four runs batted in and the Bulldogs used a nine-run third inning to easily run-rule Saint Andrews and complete the doubleheader sweep.
Barton junior shortstop
Mikayla Rose (Beaufort, N.C.) added two hits and two runs batted in while sophomore
AnnaKate Gilchrist (Clayton, N.C.) (1-5) earned her first win in fine fashion, throwing a no-hitter to along with four strikeouts. St. Andrews' Kyleigh Collins (Laurinburg, N.C.) was tagged with the loss.
Barton faces Francis Marion on the road in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 10, at 4:00 p.m., in Florence, S.C., while St. Andrews takes on Union (Ky.) on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
