FLORENCE, S.C. – The Barton College men's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the year with a 4-3 road victory over Francis Marion (1-4) Sunday afternoon at Kassab Courts.
Barton freshman
Gustavo Camelo (Goiania, BRAZIL) won at singles and doubles for the Bulldogs while his victory over Francis Marion's Joshua Schaefer (Wehrheim, GERMANY) at No. 6 singles, 6-2 and 6-0, proved to be the match-winner.
In addition, Camelo teamed with senior
Hugh Ryder (Dartmouth, ENGLAND) to best Schaefer and Aron Sarenwald (Kalmar, SWEDEN), 6-2, at third doubles, the lone tandem victory for the Bulldogs.
Barton returns home to face Methodist on Thursday, February 25, beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Francis Marion takes on Augusta in a Peach Belt Conference affair scheduled for Wednesday at Noon in Augusta, Ga.
