LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Barton men's and women's indoor track and field teams were back in action this weekend at the 2020 Liberty Kickoff at the Liberty University Indoor Track Complex.
On the men's side, Barton junior Greg Gibbs (Newark, N.J.) finished 17th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.65 while sophomore Quante Downey (Rocky Mount, N.C.) took 12th in the pole vault (12'6"). Finally, junior Chianti Ghee (Fayetteville, N.C.) placed 18th in the weight throw (47'0").
In the women's competition, sophomore Hailey Russell (Jacksonville, N.C.) finished the 800-meter run (2:30.36) and the one-mile run (5:43.31) in 19th and 23rd places, respectively, while senior Taylor Everly (Martinsburg, Va.) was 18th in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:35.18 for the Bulldogs.
The Barton men's and women's track and field teams next compete in the Mondo College Invitational on Sunday, February 2, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
