Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton women's basketball team (13-5, 10-3) saw its six-game winning streak come to an end with a 71-67 setback to Emmanuel (Ga.) (13-6, 10-3) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at the Shaw Athletic Center.
The Lions' Breanna Locke (Flowery Branch, Ga.) finished with 30 points and 14 rebounds as the Lions swept the season series from the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the two teams are now tied with Limestone for second place in the conference regular season standings. The game was part of the NCAA Division II National Game of the Week package on ESPN3.
Barton junior forward Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) notched her 14th double-double on the year – 30 points and 23 rebounds, both career-highs – but the Bulldogs couldn't' hold a 27-10 lead early in the second period.
Barton was hurt by a 31-percent performance (23-of-75) from the field including four-of-21 (19 percent) from the three-point line. Barton sophomore forward Jami Tham-Morrobel (Arlington, Va.) added 10 points in the losing effort as well for the visitors.
Barton remains on the road to face Limestone on Tuesday in Gaffney, S.C., in a league contest beginning at 5:30 p.m., while Emmanuel plays Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C., on Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
