Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (13-4, 10-2) continued its dominant run of late with another decisive win, 78-49 over Erskine (4-13, 4-8) Monday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Belk Arena.
Barton sophomore forward Jami Tham-Morrobel (Arlington, Va.) scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds while senior guard Summer Baer (Fleming Island, Fla.) added 17 points with five treys as five Bulldogs scored in double figures in the win. Barton also increased its winning streak to six games and has won its past four contests by an average of 39.5 points. Baer leads the league with 60 three-pointers.
Erskine's Osha Makerson (Forest City, N.C.) scored a team-high 13 points but was the lone player to score in double figures for the Flying Fleet.
Barton jumped out to a 23-10 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back in the win. The Bulldogs led by as many as 40 points – 78-38 with 3:11 remaining in the final stanza – in the rout as well. Barton junior center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) notched her 13th double-double on the year – 14 points and 13 rebounds – while the Bulldogs held a 53-35 edge on the boards.
Barton will take on Emmanuel (Ga.) in a league game and an NCAA Division II National Showcase Game of the Week on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., on ESPN3 in Franklin Springs, Ga. Erskine takes on Lees-McRae on the road Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
