Barton women's basketball takes care of Converse, 72-47, for fourth straight win

WILSON, N.C. –  The Barton women's basketball team (11-4, 8-2) won its fourth straight game with a 72-47 victory over Converse (2-17, 1-9) Wednesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium in a Conference Carolinas contest.

Barton sophomore forward Jami Tham-Morrobel (Arlington, Va.) finished with a game-high 18 points while senior guard Summer Baer (Fleming Island, Fla.) added 17 points and five treys as the Bulldogs moved into sole possession of second place in the league regular season standings.

Converse's Alexis McMillian (Bishopville, S.C.) led the visitors with 12 points and 10 rebounds but the Valkyries were limited to just 23 percent shooting (15-of-66) for the contest.

Barton blocked 13 shots on the night – including a game-high seven from junior center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) – and has 24 blocked shots over the past two games.  In addition, Peterkin added 11 points and 19 rebounds for her 12th double-double on the year.

Barton hits the road to take on Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C., for the first of six straight road contests Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Converse faces Emmanuel (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., as well in Franklin Springs, Ga.
