BANNER ELK, N.C. – Sophomore Alex Kimble scored a career-high 23 points and the Barton College women's basketball team used overtime to defeat Lees-McRae College 73-62 on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-12 overall and 8-7 in Conference Carolinas play after securing their fifth league win in the last six contests. Lees-McRae fell to 7-15 overall and 6-9 in conference as BC earned a regular season sweep of the Bobcats following an 87-51 victory on January 19 in Wilson.

Kimble's career-high came on 7-of-21 shooting from the floor and 7-of-11 from the free throw line as the transfer from Sam Houston State University also pulled down nine rebounds in 38 minutes.

Freshman Kianna Wynn turned in her 12th double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Caila Carter also finished with 13 rebounds to go along with seven points. Sophomore Tatyana Jackson scored 11 points as freshman JerBria Smith chipped in eight points off of the bench.

Lees-McRae held a 19-10 lead after the first 10 minutes of action, however, the Lady Bulldogs were able to take a one-point lead midway through the second quarter following back-to-back shots by Kimble. BC held onto the lead for a 30-28 advantage at intermission.

Two free throws by Wynn gave Barton its first double-digit lead of the game at 41-31 with 4:01 remaining in the third as the Lady Bulldog lead stood at a 12-point edge after three periods of play.

The Bobcats looked to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring BC 20-8 in the frame, tying the score on back-to-back free throws with seven seconds left in regulation. Kimble attempted a three-pointer with just one second left that hit the rim but did not fall.

Barton held the Bobcats to just two points in the overtime period, securing the win by sinking 7-of-8 free throw attempts in the final five minutes.

The Lady Bulldogs return home on Tuesday, February 9 for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with King University in Wilson Gymnasium.
