RALEIGH, N.C. – Junior Karimah Dean led BC with career-highs of 20 points and 17 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs ended the 2016 portion of their schedule with a 76-52 non-conference victory over Saint Augustine's University on Saturday afternoon.
Playing in its final game before the New Year, Barton (5-5) shot just 41.4 percent from the field but held a sizeable 53-35 advantage over Saint Augustine's (3-12), which struggled to make just 35.3 percent of its shots in the game.
Dean made 10-of-17 field goal attempts to record her career-high point total to go along with a career-best four steals in 28 minutes of action off of the bench.
Sophomore Kianna Wynn had nine points and seven rebounds of her own, while redshirt-junior Alex Kimble chipped in nine points in her first start since mid-November.
A three-pointer from junior Tatyana Jackson sparked a 14-3 run by BC over the game's opening five minutes of play as the Lady Bulldogs led by 13 points after one quarter of play. Barton extended its lead to a 14-point advantage at intermission after controlling the first half of play.
Barton's second 20-point quarter of the game moved the lead to 25 points through three quarters of play as the Lady Bulldog's cruised to their fifth win of the season.
The Royal Blue and White will begin a five-game homestand when it hosts Conference Carolinas opponent North Greenville University on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. inside Wilson Gymnasium.
