WILSON, N.C. – Playing at home for the first time during the 2016-17 season, the Barton women's basketball team picked up a 73-56 Conference Carolinas victory over Converse College behind a double-double from sophomore Kianna Wynn in Wilson Gymnasium.
Wynn, the reigning league player of the year, led all players with 22 points and 18 rebounds in the game for her third double-double of the season. Junior Karimah Dean followed with a career-high 16 points and six rebounds of her own, while sophomore Dinah Neal scored 10 points in 20 minutes of action off of the bench.
Barton (4-5, 2-2) opened the game with six unanswered points to lay claim to an early lead it would not relinquish. It took nearly two minutes for Converse (1-5, 1-3) to get on the board as the Lady Bulldogs held a 20-13 advantage after one quarter of play.
The Lady Bulldogs carried momentum into the second period of play, opening with a 10-run to build its lead to a 30-13 margin. A three-pointer from freshman Summer Baer with nine seconds remaining in the half put Barton ahead by 17 points at intermission.
BC's largest lead of the game came with 6:46 remaining in the third quarter at a 27-point advantage as the Lady Bulldogs cruised to a 17-point victory to even its record in league play.
Barton hits the road once again to end the semester, traveling to Raleigh, N.C. for a non-conference matchup with Saint Augustine's University on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m.
