DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team opened Conference Carolinas play with a 70-57 win over Erskine College on Tuesday night thanks in large part to double digit scoring by four different players.
Freshman Angela Caraballo led the offense with a career-high 17 points, making 7-of-9 shots including three from long range. Barton (3-2, 1-0) shot 40.9 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from three-point range and held a 58-38 advantage in total rebounds.
Sophomore Kianna Wynn registered her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Caila Carter also had a double-double with 12 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Redshirt-junior Alex Kimble chipped in a season-high 12 points in 21 minutes off of the bench.
The Lady Bulldogs led by four points after the first quarter of play, ending the period on a Caraballo three-pointer, before extending the lead to a 32-18 edge with a 13-3 run to begin the second quarter.
After leading Erskine (1-3, 0-1) by 11 at intermission, the BC lead grew to 13 at the end of three quarters and remained that way until the final whistle.
Barton will take eight days away from competition for Thanksgiving break before returning to the court on Wednesday, Nov. 30 in a Conference Carolinas contest with Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C.
