WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College women's basketball team held a 12-point lead after the opening quarter of play as the Lady Bulldogs won their third game in the last four contests with a 75-60 victory over North Greenville University in Wilson Gymnasium.

Barton (8-12, 6-7) shot 41.5 percent from the floor and held a 50-33 edge in total rebounds, including 19 rebounds on the offensive end of the floor. BC also held a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint as North Greenville (5-15, 3-10) took the majority of its shots from beyond the three-point arc, hitting 10 three-pointers in the game.

Due to an equipment error with the scoreboard, Barton was assessed an administrative technical that allowed North Greenville two free throws before the game began. The Crusaders sank one of the two shots but never led again in the game.

After NGU tied the game at 3-3 early in the first period, Barton closed the quarter on a 15-3 run to lead 18-6 over the Crusaders. The BC lead grew to as large a margin as 18-pints following a layup by freshman Kianna Wynn with just over six minutes to play in the second quarter. The Lady Bulldogs held on for a 41-31 lead at intermission.

North Greenville tied the game for a short time midway through the third quarter on a three-pointer from senior Tyler Powers before sophomore Tatyana Jackson but BC back in front for good, following a jumper with a free throw to complete a three-point play.

Barton's lead once again grew to double digits on a layup from Wynn early in the final period as the Lady Bulldogs secured their eighth win of the season.

Wynn led the Lady Bulldogs with her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor to go along with 10 rebounds. Junior Caila Carter secured her fifth double-double with 16 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, including eight offensive boards. Jackson rounded out the double-digit scorers for BC, totaling 14 points and a game-high six assists.

Barton will host University of Mount Olive on Wednesday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the final game of a three-game homestand.
