SPARTANBURG, S.C.-Fourteen of 16 Lady Bulldogs scored on Saturday afternoon as Barton College coasted to a 102-52 Conference Carolinas women's basketball victory over host Converse College.
Nyeshea Willie led all scorers with 16 points and added five assists and two steals in pacing the attack for Barton, now 8-4 overall and 3-0 in league play. Jannetta Robinson contributed 10 points and three assists and Mariah White notched 10 points and two assists. Jolanda Mitchell, Shante Neal and Janae Jackson drilled eight points apiece for Barton. Mitchell snared a game-high nine boards.
Converse slipped to 1-11 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Colleen Leung cashed 13 points and Avery Winchester totaled 10 for the losing team.
Barton converted 36-of-78 shots for 46.2-percent accuracy, including 3-of-13 from 3-point land. The Lady Bulldogs were hot from the foul line, drilling 27-of-35 attempts for 77.1 percent. Converse managed to make just 18-of-31 field goals for 35.3 percent and was 5-of-12 (41.7 percent) from downtown. It hit 11-of-18 foul shots for 61.1 percent.
Barton roared to a 50-26 halftime lead and never let up, posting a similar 52-26 advantage in the second half with many reserves seeing lots of playing time.
The Lady Bulldogs entertain rival Mount Olive on Wednesday night at 5:30 in the Dog House.
