Barton Athletic Facilities

WILSON GYMNASIUM (Directions)
Woodard Street NE, Wilson, NC

Wilson Gymnasium is the home court of Barton men's and women's basketball and men's and women's volleyball. Also known as the Dog House, Wilson Gym is named in honor of the residents of the Wilson community for their support of Barton athletics. Barton basketball has a long tradition of success inside the Dog House, consistently drawing the largest crowds within Conference Carolinas and the Southeast Region. The gym is now wrapped around by Championship Drive as announced by the Mayor of Wilson after the Barton men's basketball team won the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2007. Wilson Gym has served as the host venue for countless league tournament games in both basketball and volleyball. Barton men's basketball has hosted a pair of NCAA Regionals inside Wilson Gymnasium.

NIXON FIELD (Directions)
412 North Kincaid Ave, Wilson, NC

Nixon Field is the home diamond of the Barton baseball program. Named in honor of Dr. William P. Nixon, Jr. - an alumnus of Atlantic Christian College and a trustee of Barton College - and his family, the facility is an award-winning playing surface. Dr. Nixon is the father of four, including Trot Nixon of Boston Red Sox fame. The American Baseball Coaches Association and Turface Athletics presented Nixon Field the 2005 Field Maintenance Award for outstanding efforts in maximizing athletic performance and safety for a baseball facility. Nixon Field receives regular upgrades and features the Scott Davis Field House, numerous bleachers and bucket seats.

JEFFRIES FIELD (Directions)
412 North Kincaid Ave, Wilson, NC

Jeffries Field is the home park for the Barton softball program. Jeffries Field is named in honor of Dr. Kay Jeffries and her family and is located at the Barton Outdoor Athletics Complex. Dr. Jeffries was the first softball coach in the programs history and a long time faculty member of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Studies.

GILLETTE PARK (Directions)
3238 Corbett Ave, Wilson, NC

J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex serves as a secondary home field for the Barton softball program. Operated by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Wilson, the facility is a high-quality playing surface that also includes lights for night games and ammenities.

SOCCER FIELD (Directions)
412 North Kincaid Ave, Wilson, NC

The soccer field is located at the Barton Outdoor Athletics Complex and is home to both Barton men's and women's soccer. The facility also includes recently installed lights allowing for night games. Scott Davis Fieldhouse, which is located adjacent to the soccer field, also has locker rooms for teams, along with bathrooms and a concession stand for fans. The Barton soccer field has been the site of numerous intercollegiate conference championship tournaments and the sight of multiple high school tournament championships. The facility has served as a site with local, state and regional youth tournaments in conjunction with Wilson's Gillette Park and the Wilson Youth Soccer Association. Barton soccer field was the host venue for the 2001 NCAA Division II Regional Championship Game.

TENNIS COMPLEX (Directions)

The tennis complex is located on the northeast end of campus and is home to both Barton men's and women's tennis. The state-of-the-art facility includes 12 lighted courts divided evenly by stadium seating that optimizes viewing for spectators. The hard-court complex is widely recognized, and utilized, as one of the top tennis facilities in eastern North Carolina.  Barton has hosted several conference championship tournaments and ITA regional events at the tennis complex. The facility has also hosted numerous high school conference, regional and state tournament championships and multiple signifigant youth and amateur tournaments each year. The courts are served by a building that includes the Barton tennis office, restrooms and other additional areas. Each of the 12 courts are named for an individual or group that provided funding for its construction.

WILSON COUNTRY CLUB (Directions)

The Wilson Country Club serves as the home golf course for both the Barton men's and women's golf teams. Located only four miles from campus, Wilson Country Club is a practice and playing facility. The course measures 6,851 yards and is a par-72. Wilson Country Club hosts the annual Barton Intercollegiate every March and has hosted two NCAA Regionals, U.S. Open qualifying, Senior U.S. Open and Mid-Amateur events, the 2009 N.C. Women's Amateur and the 2010 N.C. Men's Amateur.
