Barton women’s volleyball falls on the road to Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton women's volleyball team (8-11, 5-7) suffered a 3-0 setback to Emmanuel (Ga.) (13-11, 9-2) Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Shaw Athletic Center.

The Lions won by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 31-29 and remained at the top of the league's West Division standings.

Emmanuel was led by Mia Cotton (Tallahassee, Fla.) with 10 kills while Jessica Gray (Ball Ground, Ga.) added eight kills and 14 digs as the Lions totaled 14 blocks and limited the Bulldogs to just a .064 hitting percentage in the victory.

Barton was led by junior outside hitter Kaytlin Elkins (Hope Mills, N.C.) with 15 kills and sophomore setter Sarah Kirk (Pearland, Texas) neared a double-double – 20 assists and nine digs – in the losing effort.  Freshman libero Baleigh Hill (Salisbury, N.C.) added 17 digs for the Bulldogs, who were playing their fifth of six straight road contests.

Barton remains on the road to take on league-foe Erskine on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Due West, S.C., while Emmanuel hosts Erskine on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
