RALEIGH, N.C. – The Barton women's tennis team (3-2) shut out Meredith (0-1) by a 9-0 score on Thursday afternoon at the Avenging Angels Complex.
Barton freshman Grace McCartney (Thames, NEW ZEALAND) was the lone player to register victories at singles and doubles on the day for the visitors.
McCartney defeated Meredith's Sarah Porter (Rocky Mount, N.C.) by scores of 6-0 and 6-0 at fifth singles and teamed with senior Whitney Hamilton (Burlington, N.C.) to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-4 over Brittney Brown (Westfield, N.C.) and Logan King (Mount Airy, N.C.).
Barton returns to the court on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Sumter, S.C., to take on Augusta beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Meredith hosts Shaw next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
