Barton women’s soccer shuts down Limestone, 2-0, for key conference victory

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (5-2-1, 3-1) scored a huge Conference Carolinas win with a 2-0 shutout of perennial league-power Limestone (3-4, 2-2) Saturday afternoon at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

Barton junior forward Syaani Harris (Ashland, Va.) and junior forward Olivia Bronson (Gaithersburg, Md.) both scored in each half for the Bulldogs, who won their third straight contest. 

The match-winner from Harris at the 39:10 mark of the first half was her team-leading fifth goal of the season while Bronson rounded out the scoring in the 70th minute after cleaning up a corner kick right in front of the net.  Barton held an 11-9 advantage in shots taken while sophomore goalkeeper Kristin Davis (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) earned the shutout after tallying six saves.

For Limestone, Taylin Jean (Hillsborough, N.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite stopping five Barton shots on the afternoon.

Barton hits the road to take on Chowan in a Conference Carolinas match on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Limestone visits Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
