WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (1-1) fell to UNC Pembroke (2-0) by a 1-0 score on Tuesday evening at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

The Braves tallied the lone goal of the match just 9:17 into the contest when Rilee Seering (Waxhaw, N.C.) scored after taking advantage of a misplay off a goalkeeper pass.  Seering scored from the center of the box after receiving a pass from the right courtesy of Alexis Pittman (Greensboro, N.C.) and finding the top right corner of the net.

Barton held UNC Pembroke to just one score despite the Braves holding a 32-3 advantage in shots taken.  Barton freshman goalkeeper Rachel Cox (Wilson, N.C.) made seven saves despite the loss while UNC Pembroke's Gina Ryan (Cape Carteret, N.C.) earned the shutout win in goal.

Barton did have a chance to tie when senior forward Rebekah Beal's (Nashville, N.C.) shot right in front of the net after a scramble hit the crossbar.

Barton next competes against Newberry on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., in Newberry, S.C., while UNC Pembroke travels to Hickory, N.C., to take on Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m.
