GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (4-2) fell to Lander (4-2) by an 87-61 score Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference regional affair at Horne Arena.

The Bearcats used a balance scoring attack and were led by Amiaya Melvins (Sicklerville, N.J.) with a double-double – 16 points and 10 rebounds – while Zamiya Passmore (Locust Grove, Ga.) and Cierra Revelle (Apex, N.C.) added 15 points each in the win.

A trio for the Bulldogs – sophomore guard Akira Wiggins (Knightdale, N.C.), senior guard Summer Baer (Fleming Island, Fla.) and sophomore forward Jami Tham-Morrobel (Arlington, Va.) – scored 12 points each but Barton was forced into 22 turnovers in the losing effort.

Lander jumped out to a 37-21 advantage at halftime and never looked back.  The Bearcats also held the Bulldogs to just 37 percent shooting (23-of-62) for the contest while Revelle connected on five treys in the victory as well.
