HIGH POINT, N.C. – Two members of the Barton women's basketball team – senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C) and sophomore center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) – garnered 2018-19 All-Conference Carolinas honors.

Wynn was named to the all-league first team for the third time in her collegiate career while Peterkin was named to the all-conference second team in addition to garnering Conference Carolinas Defensive Player-of-the-Year accolades for the second straight season.

Wynn, a four-time all-conference selection, currently ranks second in the league in scoring (22.4 ppg), rebounding (9.7 rpg) and field goal percentage (54.5).  Wynn has 12 double-doubles on the season and her 2,047 career points rank second all-time in program history.  Wynn is also a two-time All-Southeast Region selection (2016-17 and 2017-18) and earned league player-of-the-week accolades four times this season.

Peterkin nearly averages a double-double this year – 9.5 points and a league-high 11.4 rebounds per game – and her 100 blocks rank first in Conference Carolinas.  In addition, Peterkin is sixth in the country in blocked shots per game (3.6) and her 239 career blocks is a school record.  Peterkin had a triple-double on Monday, November 19, against Elizabeth City State:  12 points, 14 rebounds and 11 blocks in a 63-58 road triumph.

Barton (24-4, 16-4), the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Champions, are the second seed in the league tournament championship and will face third-seeded Belmont Abbey (20-9) in the semifinals tonight at 7:30 p.m., at Williamson Arena in Franklin Springs, Ga.  The Bulldogs – ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region – are in the midst of a 10-game winning streak.
