GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (23-4, 16-4) clinched a share of the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship with a 74-64 road victory over Limestone (13-14, 10-10) Tuesday evening at the Timken Center.

The Bulldogs, winners of nine straight games in the process, share the title with Emmanuel (Ga.).  Barton was led by freshman guard Akira Wiggins (Knightdale, N.C.), who totaled a career-high 22 points including five treys as the Bulldogs swept the season series from the Saints.

Barton and Limestone were tied at 62-all with just over three minutes left before the Bulldogs put together a 12-2 run to end the contest and earn the road triumph.  Senior guard Dinah Neal (Browns Summit, N.C.) – who totaled 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the contest – hit the game-winning three-point play with 2:29 left in the game.

Limestone's Schekinah Bimpa (Loganville, Ga.) finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Taylour Hunter (Clemson, S.C.) added 16 points in the losing effort.  However, the Saints turned the ball over 16 times while the Bulldogs held a 50-33 edge on the boards.

Barton senior Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) added 15 points and 14 rebounds – pushing her career total to 2,033 points, second-best all-time – and the Bulldogs improved to 13-1 in their last 14 contests.

Barton will be the No. 2 seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and will host a quarterfinal round game on Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The Saints also qualified for the league tournament as the seventh seed and will face the Bulldogs in the opening round.
