WILSON, N.C. – The Barton Women's Basketball Team (8-2, 1-2) couldn't hold a 19-point halftime advantage in suffering an 81-77 setback to Emmanuel (Georgia) (7-2, 3-0) Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Wilson Gymnasium.

The Lady Lions' Lochlain Corliss (Cumming, Ga.) finished with 24 points including 21 after intermission while Hanna Grogan (Gainesville, Ga.) added 18 points – 14 in the second half – as Emmanuel rallied from a 43-24 halftime deficit to take the win.

Barton senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) notched a double-double – a game-high 30 points and 15 rebounds – as the Bulldogs lost despite outscoring the Lady Lions by a 27-7 margin in the second quarter.

Barton senior guard Dinah Neal (Browns Summit, N.C.) added 10 points and sophomore center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) totaled eight points and 14 rebounds in the setback.  The Bulldogs held a 53-39 edge in rebounding but couldn't hold off Emmanuel's surge in the second half.

A 14-0 run by the Lady Lions over the final two periods forced a 62-all tie with 8:26 remaining in the contest on a lay-up by Corliss.  Corliss, who added seven assists and seven rebounds, then gave Emmanuel the lead for good at 71-70 with a pair from the charity stripe with just under four minutes left.  The Lady Lions were also clutch from the free throw line, connecting on 20-of-23 attempts.

Barton remains at home next Saturday, December 15, to take on Erskine in a Conference Carolinas game beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Emmanuel takes on North Georgia in Tigerville, S.C., on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
