Barton men’s volleyball sweeps Limestone, 3-0, for sixth straight victory

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (6-2, 3-0) remained perfect in Conference Carolinas play and won its sixth straight match with a 3-0 sweep of Limestone (2-4, 1-1) Friday evening at the Timken Center.  The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-22.

Barton was led by senior outside hitter Vasilis Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) and junior right side hitter Angelos Mandilaris (Chalkida, GREECE) with 14 kills each.  Vasilis Mandilaris hit .444 for the match while Angelos Mandilaris, the current league player of the week, pushed his conference-leading kill total to 113.

Limestone was paced by Jordan Barreto (San Sebastian, PUERTO RICO) with a team-high eight kills but the Saints were limited to just a .173 hitting percentage. 

In three matches, the Bulldogs still have not dropped a set in league play.  Barton junior setter Oscar Fiorentino (Bayamon, PUERTO RICO) dished out 33 assists while senior outside hitter Aleksa Brkovic (Belgrade, SERBIA) added 14 digs for the visitors in the victory.

Barton faces North Greenville in a Conference Carolinas match on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Tigerville, S.C., while Limestone hosts Mount Olive on Saturday in a league contest beginning at 2:00 p.m., as well.
