ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Barton men's swimming team defeated Hampden-Sydney easily in a dual meet, 207-36, Saturday afternoon at the Harrison Family YMCA.
The Bulldogs were dominant – winning 13 out of the possible 14 events – and were led by freshman Bartlomiej Swiderski (Warsaw, POLAND), who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.63), 200-yard backstroke (1:54.62) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.03). Swiderski was also part of the first-place 200-yard medley relay for the Bulldogs (1:37.17).
Seniors Robert Zamorano (Woodstock, Ga.) and Michael Cutidioc (North Hills, Calif.) both won two races as well for Barton. Zamorano claimed first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:21.29) and 500-yard freestyle (4:58.16) while Cutidioc claimed the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (49.76) and the 100-yard butterfly (55.05).
The 400-yard freestyle relay for the Bulldogs – consisting of senior Luis Reyes (Ocala, Fla.), juniors Jonathan Moss (Mechanicsville, Va.) and Jaksa Gabric (Zagreb, CROATIA) and sophomore Joshua Stidham (Franklin, Tenn.) – wrapped up the meet with a first-place finish and a time of 3:22.40.
Barton next competes in the Yellow Jacket Invitational – hosted by Randolph-Macon College – on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, in Chesterfield, Va., at the Collegiate School Aquatic Center.
