WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's soccer team (6-2-1, 2-2) saw its four-match winning streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss to Chowan (4-2, 3-0) Wednesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Hawks Field.

Chowan turned to its offense in the first half – building a 4-1 lead at intermission – and never looked back in remaining unbeaten in league play.  The Hawks' Harry Ardron (Blackpool, ENGLAND) scored twice including the match-winning inside the box just 7:57 into the contest while Toby Sims (Tuxford, ENGLAND) added two goals as Chowan scored five times on just 12 shot attempts in the victory.

Barton junior forward Ruben Mancio (Cadiz, SPAIN) scored for the second straight contest and freshman defender Tobias Nielson (Rask Moelle, DENMARK) rounded out the scoring in the 52nd minute but the deficit was too great to overcome.  Mancio now has three goals on the year.

In goal, Chowan's Ross Miller (Kilmarnock, SCOTLAND) earned the win while senior Francisco Noguera (Santiago, CHILE) suffered the loss for Barton.

Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday when the Bulldogs host King (Tenn.) in a league contest beginning at 4:00 p.m., at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex while Chowan hosts Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas action Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
