Barton men’s golf is tied for eighth after opening day of the 2019 Queens Invitational

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Barton men's golf team sits in an eighth-place tie after day one Monday of the 2019 Queens Invitational which is taking place at The Club at Irish Creek.

The Bulldogs shot a 576 (+8) on the par-71, 7,024-yard course while USC Aiken, ranked No. 5 in NCAA Division II, currently leads the tournament with a 16-under 552 after 36 holes of play.  No. 16 Lincoln Memorial, last year's national runner-up, shot a 559 (-9) on the day and stands in second place.

Barton is led by junior Bryson Boyette (Wilson, N.C.) and senior Nikolaj Dahl (Jylinge, DENMARK), who are both tied for fourth with a five-under 137.  The Pacers also had the top two individuals after Monday's play in Leonardo Bono (Rivera, SWITZERLAND) and Leo Johansson (Djurö, SWEDEN).  Both players carded a 134 (-8).

The third and final round is scheduled for Wednesday.
