WILSON, N.C. – The Barton baseball team (24-17, 12-9) split a Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Erskine (22-17, 11-8) Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.  The Flying Fleet won the first contest by a 4-2 score before the Bulldogs salvaged the split with a victory in the nightcap, 9-3.

Game One – Erskine 4, Barton 2 (seven innings)
The Flying Fleet's Alex Calvert (La Plata, Md.) improved to 5-2 on the year after going the distance and striking out six batters.  Erskine's Trevor Lesane (Tar Hill, N.C.) drove in two runs including the game-winning RBI single in the top of the sixth inning that broke a two-all tie.

For Barton, junior catcher Brayden Olson (Spokane, Wash.) hit his third home run of the season but sophomore Alex Hart (Raleigh, N.C.) fell to 2-2 after taking the loss.  Barton senior outfielder Troy Maslowski (Cary, N.C.) added a sacrifice fly in the losing effort as well.

Game Two – Barton 9, Erskine 3
Barton freshman outfielder Jacob Marcos (Miami, Fla.) led the Bulldogs' 18-hit attack with four hits of his own while Maslowski added two hits and three runs batted in as the home team was able to salvage the split and avoid the weekend series sweep.

Holding a 3-2 advantage, the Bulldogs took control with three runs in both the fifth and sixth frames while both Marcos and Maslowski had RBI triples in the contest.  Olson added two hits and three runs batted in and Barton junior Jakob Ryan (Carrollton, Va.) (5-3) allowed just one earned run while striking out 13 batters in pitching his third complete game of the year.

Lesane had an RBI double for the Flying Fleet while Zach Carter (Rock Hill, S.C.) fell to 5-4 after being tagged with the loss.

Barton next hosts Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday at Fleming Stadium beginning at 5:00 p.m., while Erskine hosts Anderson on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
