GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton junior Nicola Macdonald (Durban, SOUTH AFRICA) and freshman Bartlomiej Swiderski (WARSAW, Poland) have been named the Conference Carolinas Women's and Men's Swimmers of the Week, respectively. Both swimmers win the weekly honor for the second time this year.
Macdonald won two races – the 200-yard (1:57.88) and 500-yard (5:25.38) freestyle events – in a home dual meet this past weekend with NCAA Division I Campbell. Macdonald, last year's Conference Carolinas Women's Co-Swimmer of the Year, captures the league weekly accolade for the second consecutive week and for the fifth time in her collegiate career.
Swiderski led the Bulldogs to dominant, 207-36 home dual victory over Hampden-Sydney this past Saturday thanks to three first-place finishes: the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.63), the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.62) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:58.03). Swiderski was also part of the 200-yard medley relay for Barton which also won with a time of 1:37.17. Swiderski holds the school record in the 200-yard IM (1:54.58).
Barton men's and women's swimming return to competition on Saturday, November 23, and Sunday, November 24, as they compete in Randolph-Macon's Yellow Jacket Invitational in Chesterfield, Virginia, at the Collegiate Sports Aquatic Center.
