CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Barton College women's volleyball team would have no answer for the Augusta University Jaguars on Saturday afternoon at the Queens Volleyball Fall Classic. The Jaguars recorded a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-15) victory against the Bulldogs.

Barton (1-7) finished with a 1-4 mark at the Queens Volleyball Fall Classic after picking up a win in its opening match on Friday against Georgia College. Following the completion of the tournament, sophomore Kaytlin Elkins was named to the all-tournament team. Augusta (6-1) recorded 10 aces in the match and received four from Savanna Gonzales.

Elkins paced the Bulldogs with eight kills in the match, while sophomore Camryn Frederick added seven kills for Barton. Freshman Peyton Kendall tallied six kills, one ace, and four digs for BC, while senior Angelica Acevedo notched a double-double with 20 assists and 11 digs.

Barton looked to rebound in the match after dropping the opening set to the Jaguars. BC took an early 4-3 advantage in the second set but would quickly see Augusta knot the score and use a 4-0 run to take a 7-4 lead. The Jaguars then went on a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 12-5. Kendall ended the run with a kill for BC and would be followed by an ace from sophomore Ashley Owen. Augusta ended the set on consecutive kills from Beck to take a 2-9 advantage in the set.

The Jaguars would lead from start to finish in the third set as Augusta secured a 25-15 win to complete the 3-0 sweep of the Bulldogs. Augusta hit .261 as a team in the match and committed just 10 attack errors while tallying seven blocks.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday as BC will play in the Wingate Tri-match against Wingate at 3 p.m. and Francis Marion at 5 p.m.
