MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2017 College Division All-State Women's Volleyball Teams on Tuesday, selecting Barton's Angelica Acevedo and Kaytlin Elkins as team members.

Acevedo, a setter from Coamo, Puerto Rico, was named all-state for the second time in her career after directing the Lady Bulldog offense all season. The junior, who was also named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference First Team and garnered Conference Carolinas All-Championship team accolades, was the league-leader with 10.4 assists per set and second among all players with 1,112 total assists.

She was also second on the team with 3.3 digs per set while also posting 20 double-doubles on the season.

Elkins, an outside hitter from Hope Mills, N.C., receives her first All-State award after being named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, a D2CCA All-Region and AVCA All-Region honoree. She was Barton's top offensive threat, helping lead the team to a North Division title and the program's second-consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament.

She led all players in Conference Carolinas and Southeast Region with 4.42 kills per set and 464 kills while reaching double-figure kills in 26 of Barton's 31 matches. Elkins also registered 220 digs and 36 total blocks for BC. She recorded a season-high 27 kills in a 3-2 loss at Lander on Sept. 8.

In all, players from seven different schools were represented on the team, as Barton was one of only three teams to have multiple players chosen to the list.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
