Barton's Elkins named to AVCA All-Southeast Region Team

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Barton College freshman outside hitter Kaytlin Elkins has been named to the 2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southeast Region team, officials announced Wednesday morning. The marks the first time that a BC women's volleyball player has been garnered an AVCA award. 

Elkins was voted to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team on Tuesday and has also garnered Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and first team all-conference accolades, all while leading the Lady Bulldogs to the conference regular season and tournament championships.

The Hope Mills, N.C. native leads the league and the region with 4.41 kills per set, adding 2.10 digs per set while also ranking in the top 10 in the conference in aces.

Elkins was the lone representative from Conference Carolinas. The Southeast Region team consisted of 20 players, with six being named Honorable Mention. Wingate's Katie Bludau took home Region Player of the Year honors, while Flagler's Karlie Redfern was named Region Freshman of the Year and Saints head coach Matt Affolder, Region Coach of the Year.
