HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College junior Angelica Acevedo has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Acevedo was honored after helping the Lady Bulldogs extend their league record to 6-0 and their overall winning streak to seven.

The junior setter from Coamo, Puerto Rico, produced double-doubles in both of BC's matches last week, running her season total to 11. The performances both came on the road, and both were recorded against teams in second place in the league at the time.

Acevedo collected 52 assists and 15 digs in Barton's four-set win at University of Mount Olive, then added 32 assists and 11 digs in a straight-set sweep at Belmont Abbey College.

The player of the week award is the second of Acevedo's career.

She is the second Barton player in a row to receive the honor this year. Last week, freshman outside hitter Kaytlin Elkins was selected.
