Deane secures second tennis All-Conference award

SUMTER, S.C.-Sophomore Mika Deane was named to the 2012 Conference Carolinas All-Conference Women's Tennis Second Team announced at the Conference Carolinas Tennis Tournament Championships banquet on Thursday evening.

Deane was voted to the Second Team for a second straight year to start her collegiate career after making it as a freshman in 2011.

Deane played in the top position of the Lady Bulldogs lineup in all 19 of Barton's regular season matches and finished with an overall record of 11-8 and a league ledger of 6-4.

The Auckland, New Zealand, native was paired with junior Lindsey Frederick as BC's marquee doubles tandem and the duo produced a 13-6 mark together including a 6-4 record in league competition.

The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations were collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, All-Conference Second Team and All-Conference Third Team.  Awards were presented at the league tennis team banquet at the Conference Tournament Championships co-hosted by Erskine College and the Palmetto Park Tennis Complex in Sumter, S.C.  This year's award winners are as follows:
