MISENHEIMER, N.C.-Three dominating wins in the bottom half of the Lady Bulldogs lineup led the Barton College women's tennis team to a narrow 5-4 Conference Carolinas victory over host Pfeiffer University on Saturday at the Knapp Tennis Center.
Barton improved to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the league with its third consecutive win and sixth victory in its last seven outings. The Lady Falcons slipped to 4-8 and 0-4.
Lasry-Fischer won in the middle pairing 8-6 and Del Pozo teamed up with senior Lindsay Toth for an 8-2 win in the final grouping to give Barton a 2-1 lead after doubles competition.
Pfeiffer won the top two singles matches in straight sets and the Falcons rallied for a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 against Toth to lose by the narrowest of margins.
Barton secured the win by only losing four total games in the last three singles matches.
Lasry and Fischer cruised to matching 6-2, 6-0 wins in the fourth and fifth flights, respectively. Del Pozo recorded the only shutout of the day with a pair of 6-0 wins at No. 6.
Lasry moved to 6-4 in her rookie season and has a team-best 3-1 ledger in league play. Fischer (4-5) and Del Pozo (4-6) each have four singles wins.
Barton next hosts local league rival Mount Olive College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
