AUSTIN, Texas – Barton sophomore Nicola Macdonald has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's At-Large NCAA Division II First Team for District III.  The award is voted on by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Macdonald, a sophomore from Durban, SOUTH AFRICA, was named the 2019 Conference Carolinas Co-Women's Swimmer of the Year after winning the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.33) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.27) and 100-yard freestyle (51.94) events – both were "B" cut qualifying times – at the league championships this past February.

Macdonald was also part of the 200-yard (1:35.50) and 400-yard (3:32.74) freestyle relays which captured conference crowns and was named Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week on October 31.  The Bulldogs finished second at the league meet.

In the classroom, Macdonald carries a 3.95 grade point average while majoring in art & design and is a member of the league's all-academic team.

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
