HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Nicola Macdonald has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week, league officials announced earlier today.

Macdonald, a sophomore from Durban, SOUTH AFRICA, led the Bulldogs to victories over William Peace (207-25) and league-rival King (161-89) in a tri-meet this past Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., with four first-place finishes.

Macdonald was the top swimmer in the 100-yard freestyle (55.63), 200-yard freestyle (2:04.21) and 500-yard freestyle (5:37.55) events and was part of the Bulldogs' first-place 400-yard freestyle relay squad (3:47.58).

Macdonald, a three-time league swimmer of the week so far in her collegiate career, was the 2018 Conference Carolinas Champion in both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events and led the Bulldogs to the first-ever league championship last February.

Barton hosts Mary Washington on Saturday, November 3, at the Harrison Family YMCA in Rocky Mount, N.C., beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Macdonald is the second Bulldogs swimmer to earn the honor this year:  sophomore Kleanza Cathers (Kitimat, British Columbia, CANADA) won the award on October 17.
