GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Barton College women's swimming team set three more school records on Friday and missed a fourth by the slimmest of margins during a 156-98 dual meet loss at Limestone College.

Kleanza Cathers, the reigning Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week, improved the Barton standard in the 1000-yard freestyle with an effort of 11:06.90 during a runner-up finish in that event.

Adie Powell got into the BC record book as well with her time of 2:23.29 in the 200-yard butterfly while placing second.

The third Barton mark to fall came in the 400-yard freestyle relay, where Cathers joined Nicola Macdonald, Kristen Price and Alayna Moore in setting a new school record of 3:45.92, again while coming in second.

Barton finished runner-up in a total of eight events during the meet, but only came away with one victory, that produced by Cathers in the 200-yard backstroke, where she won with a time of 2:13.72. The mark was just off her school record of 2:13.56 set just last week.

It wasn't the closest near-miss of the week, however. That distinction went to Kazia Patzer, who placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:01.08, which was just one one-hundredth of a second off the record she already held.

Barton will return home and get back into the pool in just a matter of hours, as the Lady Bulldogs will take on NCAA Division I program Howard University in a dual meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Harrison Family YMCA in Rocky Mount.
