HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College freshman Kleanza Cathers has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Cathers won all three of her individual events Saturday in a dual meet with Catholic University of America - the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.56), 200-yard individual medley (2:19.88) and 1000-yard freestyle (11:10.38). Both the 200-yard back and 200-yard IM marks were Barton school records.

The Kitimat, Canada, resident also established a new BC standard in the 50-yard freestyle after swimming the lead leg of the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 25.50.

Women's swimming is a championship sport in Conference Carolinas for the first time, and Cathers becomes just the fourth recipient of the league's Swimmer of the Week award. She is the second Bulldog to be selected for the honor, as teammate Nicola Macdonald was recognized in week two.
