WILSON, N.C. – A spring break trip to Florida and a three-match homestand to complete the regular-season are among the notable features of the 2018 Barton College women's lacrosse schedule, which was announced Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs will kick off their second season as a program on Saturday, Feb. 3, with a Conference Carolinas match at University of Mount Olive.

Barton will hold its home opener on Tuesday, Feb. 13, against North Carolina Wesleyan College, then embark on a five-match road swing, highlighted by matches against Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Fla., and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., in early March.

"We are playing some great out-of-conference games this year, including some newer programs," said head coach Brit Kadlowec. "Our highlight for the year will be our spring break trip to Florida. The opportunity to compete against Keiser and Embry-Riddle will be amazing for our team."

The Lady Bulldogs will host five conference matches over the second half of the season, including contests against Emmanuel College (April 14), North Greenville University (April 20) and Converse College (April 21) in the span of a week to close out the regular-season.

Barton hopes to build upon last year's inaugural season, which included a 2-10 overall record and 1-9 league mark.

"Our team gained some valuable experience last year," Kadlowec said. "We also had the opportunity to have a great fall season, and our hope is all that experience will pay off this year. We have the expectation to be able to compete with more teams this season, but we know success won't come unless we keep working hard to build the program."
