Barton’s Jimenez receives academic honor from national women’s lacrosse organization

WILSON, N.C. – Barton College senior Kianna Jimenez has been named to the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

The award is presented to juniors, seniors and graduate students who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Jimenez, who graduated magna cum laude in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics, is the first student-athlete representing Barton's new women's lacrosse program to receive the IWLCA honor.

A Raleigh, N.C., resident and graduate of Ravenscroft School, Jimenez is one of 17 recipients from four Conference Carolinas programs and one of 242 recipients nationally among all NCAA Division II programs,

In addition to her academic success, Jimenez led Barton in goals during its inaugural 2017 season, scoring 21 times.
