SNOW HILL, N.C. – The Barton College women's golf team stands in second place after the first round Monday of the Cutter Creek Invitational in the 2018-19 season opener. The tournament, hosted by the Bulldogs, is taking place at the Cutter Creek Golf Club and involves eight teams.
The Bulldogs shot a 320 (+32) on the par-72, 5,954-yard course while Mount Olive leads the tournament with a 312 (+24) after 18 holes of play.
Barton's Kate Hawkins, a freshman from Aurelian Springs, N.C., is currently tied with Lander's Caroline Hardee and Mount Olive's Lindsey Burton atop the leaderboard. The trio shot a four-over 76 in the first round.
Senior Kelsey Woodall (Chester, Md.) is tied for 10th-place overall with an opening round score of 80 (+8) for the Bulldogs.
The second and final round takes place on Tuesday.
