Woodall paces Barton women’s golf team with season-low round at Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – Barton College junior Kelsey Woodall fired her season-low round of 80 on Monday to lead the women's golf team in the first round of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Woodall, a resident of Chester, Md., is tied for 45th position in a field of 90 golfers.

The Lady Bulldogs carded a team score of 329 and are tied for 15th place out of 17 teams participating in the event, which is being hosted by Catawba College.

In addition to Woodall's 80, Barton received scores of 81 from junior Maria Garcia, 83 from junior Sydney Turner, 85 from sophomore Clare McMahon and 88 from freshman Jailynn Thomas.

Barton trails 14th place North Greenville University by seven shots and is 21 strokes ahead of 16th place Chowan University, both fellow Conference Carolinas programs.

Lenoir-Rhyne University leads the tournament at its midpoint following a round of 295 on Monday. Limestone College is second at 300, followed by Queens University at 301.

Savannah Hallman of North Greenville holds in the individual lead after an opening-round 70.

The tournament will conclude with Tuesday's second round, which will wrap up the fall portion of Barton's 2017-18 schedule.
