Women’s golf 13th after opening round of Patsy Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Barton College women's golf team is in 13th place out of 15 teams following the opening round of the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, which is being hosted by Catawba College at Salisbury Country Club.

The Lady Bulldogs combined for a team score of 344 on the 6,005-yard, par-72 layout. Barton trails the host Indians by two shots and is two shots ahead of last-place North Greenville University. Tusculum College fired a team round of 305 and holds a one-shot lead over Wingate University at the midpoint of the 36-hole event.

Sophomore Kelsey Woodall led the Lady Bulldogs with a round of 10-over par 82. The Chester, Md., resident is tied for 41st place in a field of 77 players.

Another sophomore, Sydney Turner, and freshman Nikki Norlin both carded rounds of 87 and are tied for 63rd. BC's final counting score was contributed by freshman Clare McMahon, who posted an 88 and is tied for 67th. Senior Abby Glover rounded out Barton's participation, shooting a 94 that ranked 73rd overall.

Cristina Casanella of Wingate was the only player to break par in the field, shooting a 71. She holds a one-shot lead over Ciara Rattana of Tusculum.

The tournament will conclude with Tuesday's final round.
