INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Barton women's basketball team (24-5) punched its second straight ticket to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament and will face Anderson (29-2) on Friday in the opening round at 5:00 p.m., at the Abney Athletic Center in Anderson, S.C.

The Bulldogs are the eighth seed in the tournament while the Trojans – the host school – are the top seed.  Anderson is the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions while running through the league regular season with a perfect record of 20-0.  The Trojans are also ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division II.

Barton – the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Regular Season Co-Champions – is led by its frontcourt tandem of senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) and sophomore center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.).

Wynn earned first-team all-league honors this year for the third time and ranks second in the conference in scoring at 21.9 points per game in addition to 9.6 rebounds per contest.  The four-time league player of the week this season also ranks second all-time on school's scoring list with 2,056 points.

Peterkin – a second-team all-league honoree – currently ranks first in the league in both rebounding (11.0 rpg) and blocked shots (3.4 bpg) while averaging 9.5 points per contest.  Peterkin is Barton's all-time leader in blocked shots (239).  The Bulldogs are also anchored by senior guard Dinah Neal (Browns Summit, N.C.), who averages 11.3 points per game and has a team-leading 134 assists.  Neal also crossed the 1,000-point mark for her career earlier in the week.

Anderson has won 27 straight games and is led by Alexy Mollenhauer (Lindale, Texas) - the 2018-19 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year – and Ace Easter (Maiden, N.C.), a first-team all-league honoree who averages 17.1 points per contest.  The Trojans are also 15-0 at home this year.

The two squads haven't played since February 20, 2010, an 84-71 victory by the Bulldogs when the Trojans were still part of the Conference Carolinas.
