WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (12-3, 5-3) made it two straight victories with a 72-53 triumph over King (7-6, 3-3) Tuesday night in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.

Barton senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) led all scorers with 35 points and added 17 rebounds while moving into second place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,783 points, surpassing Esty Flores.  Flores (2007-10) had 1,769 points in her Bulldog career.  Wynn also ranks second in the conference in scoring (24.2 ppg).

Barton sophomore center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 15 rebounds and blocked five shots – increasing her league-leading block total to 61 – while senior guard Carmen Richardson (Rocky Mount, N.C.) and junior guard Summer Baer (Fleming Island, Fla.) both added nine points off the bench in the victory for the Bulldogs.

King, which saw its three-game winning streak snapped, was led by Trinity Lee (Knoxville, Tenn.) with 13 points and Kristen Cupples (Clinton, Tenn.) finished with 11 points in the setback.  The Tornado, however, shot just 31 percent (19-of-62) from the field.

Barton jumped out to a 34-23 lead at halftime and remained in control throughout the contest.  The Bulldogs held a decisive edge on the boards – 58-33 – with 20 rebounds coming on the offensive end.  Barton also led by as many as 22 points:  68-46 with 2:30 remaining in the game.

Barton hits the road to take on North Greenville on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in a league game in Tigerville, S.C., while King hosts Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m., as well.
