WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's basketball team (10-2, 3-2) picked up its second straight win with a 79-58 triumph over Converse (5-4, 1-4) Monday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs were led by a pair of double-doubles from senior forward Kianna Wynn (Knightdale, N.C.) and sophomore center Shanika Peterkin (Virginia Beach, Va.).  Wynn had a game-high 24 points and 13 rebounds while Peterkin added 13 points, 13 boards and four blocked shots in the victory.

Wynn, the team's leading scorer (24.1 points) and the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, set the tone in the first half with 16 points as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 42-26 advantage at intermission and never looked back.  Peterkin increased her league-leading block total to 54 while the Bulldogs limited the Valkyries to just 33 percent shooting (18-of-55) for the contest and forced the visitors into 24 turnovers.

Converse – losers of three straight games – was led by Ellen Nardella (Woodruff, S.C.) with nine points but no one on the Valkyries roster scored in double figures.  Barton also held a 48-39 advantage in rebounds and pulled down 20 offensive boards in the win.

Twelve players also scored for the Bulldogs, who blocked five shots and hit six treys as well.

Barton remains at home to take on Lees-McRae on Wednesday, January 2, at 5:30 p.m., in a Conference Carolinas game while Converse hosts North Greenville on Wednesday, January 2, at 6:30 p.m.
